What 30 Years in Music Taught Me About Life

Always Aim Higher

We often get stuck blaming the world for our stagnation, but the truth is, the world owes us nothing. We imprison ourselves in bad situations hoping they’ll magically improve—that’s bad math. Why wait for what you can’t control instead of acting on what you can? The modern music industry, especially with Gen Z and Millennials calling many shots, flips the old script. These younger creators won’t grind on projects that don’t align with their values or passions. I had a Millennial on my team once say, “I’m not interested in doing that!” I laughed because he reminded me of my younger self—the reason I started my own business. I respect that honesty. Far too many people do jobs just for a paycheck, and it shows. Millennials might be right, and we might be the ones stuck in outdated mindsets. Many of us stayed in losing situations for years, wasting precious time.
