Odyne Systems, LLC Enhances System Engineering Focus Waukesha, WI, May 01, 2013 –(PR.com)– Odyne Systems, LLC, a leader in hybrid technology for large vehicles, is focusing additional investment to further enhance its systems engineering capabilities to deliver added value to customers.

New Appointments
Bill Mammen has been promoted to Director of Systems and Controls, driving development of propulsion systems for advanced hybrid vehicles. Mammen will focus on identifying opportunities to further advance and leverage Odyne’s technology, delivering additional efficiencies for medium and heavy duty vehicles. Prior to joining the company in 2008, Mr. Mammen had over 14 years of experience in automotive engineering, manufacturing and advanced development, working on a variety of domestic and international programs with vehicle and component manufacturers, including General Motors, Ford, Visteon and ArvinMeritor. Mammen has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering – Controls from the Michigan Technological University.

John R. Petras has been appointed as Director of Technical Programs, Principal Investigator for Odyne Systems with overall management responsibility for achieving the technical success of product development projects, while also complying with the financial and organizational objectives of the development process. Prior to joining the company in 2012, Mr. Petras had over 28 years of engineering and program management experience in the automotive, marine, and manufacturing industries. He has worked on a variety of vehicle programs for General Motors in the roles of test, design and development engineer and led product development programs and the Advanced Engineering department for Mercury Marine. He has extensive experience in managing engineering departments, product development processes and bringing new technology from initial concept into high volume production. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

Paul Hoffman has joined the organization as Senior Controls Systems Engineer, with responsibility for technical design, simulation and testing of control systems. Hoffman brings over 20 years of experience in control system design, engine and vehicle system simulation, development and testing, and team and project leadership for diesel, spark-ignited and gas turbine engines for hybrid electric vehicles, power generation and aircraft applications. Earlier employers included Navistar, Visteon, Teledyne, Cummins Engine and GE Aviation. Hoffman has an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from the University of Toledo.

New Patents/Innovation Awards
Odyne was awarded a U.S. patent April 2nd for their hybrid vehicle drive system and method and idle reduction system and method, bringing the total U.S. patent count to six, and two international patents. The company has six additional U.S. patents and 14 international patents pending, as the company continues to develop industry leading technology that provides customers with unique benefits that surpass other systems on the market.

Odyne Systems was recently named winner of the 2013 Green Award for the advanced hybrid commercial vehicle developed in conjunction with ComEd of Chicago, IL and introduced at the 2013 NTEA Work Truck Show®. The unique walk-in van, an entirely new application, is equipped with an Odyne plug-in hybrid system providing industry leading levels of electrical power from a large advanced battery system that significantly reduces fuel costs and emissions, while extending the life of the truck and providing a quieter work environment. Designed for ComEd’s underground electrical maintenance work in Chicago, the vehicle can be parked above a manhole to provide workers below with all their electrical needs, plus cooled or heated fresh air. The system significantly reduces engine chassis idling and delivers over 14 kW of power for tools and other applications, without the need for a separate diesel generator. The Green Award is presented annually by the NTEA to the corporation showcasing a product at the show that best advances work truck fuel utilization.
