Hartland, WI, August 21, 2013 –(PR.com)– London’s famous Harrods department store, which made news last year with its gender-neutral toy department, backs a line of LEGO® brick accessories invented by a nine-year-old. BrickStix® Cling Decals and Reusable Stickers, the brainchild of the now thirteen-year-old Greyson MacLean, let kids customize their LEGO builds, adding a new dimension to one of the world’s most popular toys.
When MacLean was nine, he wanted to customize his LEGO creations with stickers and decals that were as versatile as his favorite brick toy. According to MacLean, “The best thing about LEGO bricks is the ability to build anything you can imagine. Once you add a permanent sticker, you lose that ability and limit your imagination.” When MacLean approached is parents with his idea for stickers that could be detached and removed just like his bricks, BrickStix was born. “It is amazing to think that my idea is being sold at Harrods. Everyone knows Harrods,” says MacLean.
BrickStix® Cling Decals, which stick to the smooth LEGO bricks like a window cling, debuted at the 2011 New York Toy Fair after almost two years of development. Later that year, the company rolled-out BrickStix Reusable Stickers, which uses an adhesive that, as MacLean says, “won’t leave ‘ick’ on your brick.” BrickStix are sold in stores around the world, including the United States, Canada, Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom
BrickStix, which manufactures its products in the United States, is a family affair. MacLean’s parents help run the company along with his Aunt and Uncle, who designs the “Stix.” “My two little sisters help me think of ideas for our sets. Plus, we all love to play with them,” says young MacLean.
BrickStix LLC makes award-winning stickers and decals for use with plastic connecting bricks like those made by LEGO® and MEGA BLOKS®. Greyson MacLean was selected the 2011 Toy and Game Young Inventor of the Year for BrickStix and has appeared on television with Conan O’Brien and Martha Stewart.
