The Business Council of Greater Women Honors 10 Organizations Committed to Supporting Women-Owned Businesses at the 2019 LACE Awards

The annual LACE (Ladies Achieving Continuous Excellence) Awards Gala at the St. Regis hotel in Atlanta was held by the Greater Women’s Business Council (GWBC), the largest training and growth support provider for women’s businesses (WBEs) in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina on November 8.

This annual event celebrates, honors and recognizes corporate members of GWBC and certified WBEs for their commitment and contributions to the success of women-owned enterprises.

More than 200 business leaders gathered to honor the nominees and winners in a variety of categories at the black-tie masquerade gala.

LACE Award Winners

Every year, the LACE Awards of the Greater Women’s Business Council recognizes companies and individuals who make outstanding contributions to supporting women-owned business through mentoring, coaching, providing world-class supplier diversity initiatives and access to procurement opportunities.

2019 winning individuals and companies are:

Corporation of the Year – BMW Manufacturing Co.

The company that has made significant progress in breaking down barriers that hinder WBE from having fair access to procurement opportunities, including supplier growth, financial support, and strategic alliance counseling.

Advocate of the Year, Corporation – Deborah Mackins, Georgia Power

Supplier diversity practitioner, procurement professional or purchaser who is a current employee of a GWBC corporate member, selected for extraordinary efforts to inspire, engage and empower GWBC certified WBEs.

Buyer of the Year–Adam Moore, SunTrust Banks

Buyer, Procurement Specialist or Supplier Diversity Practitioner who is a current employee of a GWBC member organization, chosen for the development of initiatives providing equal access to GWBC accredited WBEs and achieving world-class performance in their supplier diversity process.

The Voice Award–Lissa Miller, SunTrust Banks

Chosen by GWBC WBEs, is given to an organization that has shown the greatest success in providing a voice and forum for GWBC-certified WBEs to achieve fair access to procurement opportunities.

The Year’s Advocates, WBE –Sara Webb, InTandem Promotions, Nika Black, LLC

GWBC certified WBE business owner (CEO / President) or a GWBC certified WBE worker, acknowledged and honoured for their proven methods of mentoring, coaching and promoting women-owned businesses.

Trailblazer Award

GWBC Certified WBE owners (CEO / President), selected based on being a community leader, sharing their time and talent with a proven track record of mentoring, collaborations, fundraising and helping other WBEs.

Trailblazer, Category I (Annual sales under $1 Million) – T. Renee Smith, iSuccess Consulting, Inc.

Trailblazer, Category II (Annual sales $1 Million – $5 Million) – Tina Stevens, Secondary Solutions, Inc.

Trailblazer, Category III (Annual sales $5 Million – $10 Million) – Tracey Grace, IBEX IT Business Experts, LLC

Trailblazer, Category IV (Annual sales $10 Million – $20 Million) – JoAnne LaBounty, Spartanburg Meat Processing Co., Inc.

Trailblazer, Category VI (Annual sales $50 Million – $100 Million) – Tammy Cohen, InfoMart
