Denver, CO, September 10, 2013 –(PR.com)– Recipients will be honored at October 24th Expo.
The Denver Biz Tech Expo (DBTE), the Oct. 24 event that connects business owners and technology providers, will award scholarships to two Denver Public Schools (DPS) students. The scholarships will be presented during the Expo.
Five dollars from each DBTE ticket will go toward the Young Women’s Technology Scholarship and the Young Men’s Technology Scholarship, which were created to encourage DPS students to pursue careers in technology. DPS high school seniors who plan to work toward a two- or four-year technology degree are eligible for the award.
“The technology sector in Colorado is booming, and provides jobs for thousands of Coloradans,” said David DeCamillis, Head of Business Development at Platte River Networks and President of DBTE. “We want to make a technology-oriented education attainable for Denver’s students, and we are hopeful our scholarship will help do just that.”
The Denver Scholarship Foundation has agreed to promote the scholarship through their Future Centers in Denver Public High Schools. The Denver Scholarship Foundation provides college advising, need-based scholarships, and resources for success in college to DPS graduates. DPS students can only apply for the DBTE scholarship online; the application can be found at www.denverbiztechexpo.com/scholarshipapp. The scholarship deadline is is Oct. 7.
This year’s DBTE, themed “Navigating the Cloud,” will provide attendees with the Cloud solutions that best fit their needs. The event has two new features: the SMB Government Resource Center and the Public Town Hall Panel. The Resource Center brings representatives from key government agencies — including the Denver Metro Chamber and US Small Business Administration — to speak with business owners. The Town Hall Panel will be an open discussion about the relationship between government and business.
