Getting Paid to Give Advice: "Becoming a Successful Independent Consultant"

Boston, MA, August 01, 2013 –(PR.com)– Hampton Bates Cooper Robinson LLC Presents Seminar On Getting Paid to Give Advice “Becoming a Successful Independent Consultant”

Becoming an independent consultant is a popular career choice for many who want to take greater control of their future. Being your own boss is an exciting option, and in today’s economy where ‘knowledge is power’ there are many individuals who feel that they can make a great income by selling their special knowledge or training. Consulting is practical and is on the rise. Our seminar intends to provide some basic direction to those who are considering independent consultancy.

Today more than fifty percent of consulting firms are businesses operated on a sole proprietor basis. Giving up your full-time paid employment and becoming a consultant will present some challenges, but with thoughtful planning you could have a successful business in no time. The key to a successful consulting business begins with getting the correct information and coaching to build your personal qualities and skills, as well as an understanding of management practices.

Consultancy is characterized as offering independent services to meet clients’ needs in exchange for a “fee”. The fee element is important; there are plenty of people willing to take advice, but making sure that you get paid for your consulting expertise is the key, and we will tackle this in our exciting new seminar.

Hampton Bates will walk attendees through the nuts and bolts of operating as an independent consultant, including business structure and incorporation options for consulting, contracts, administration, marketing your consultancy, social media, invoicing for your small business, time management, outsourcing, and best practices for freelancers.

In 2013, the “Get Paid for Giving Advice” seminar will be presented in Chelsea. MA on September 17. Registration for this event is available now through the Hampton Bates website at www.hamptonbates.com, or contact us info@hamptonbates.com. Hampton Bates urges you to sign-up soon, as seating is limited.

“In today’s economy, companies need to cut costs and are looking for a flexible workforce; emphasis is being placed on contractors while permanent positions are being cut,” said Sylvia Hampton, Founder and President of Hampton Bates Cooper Robinson. “It’s critical that talented consultants – especially those who have recently endured layoffs – are equipped with the tools and information they need to make sound decisions about operating independently. There are ways to make consulting easier and safer for these valuable professionals, and we feel a responsibility to put as much information into their hands as possible.”

The cost of the seminar is $99. All participants are eligible for “Certificates of Completion,” provided that participation requirements are met.

The Hampton Bates organization is a full-service consulting firm and is a provider of continuing education seminars to major colleges and universities. To register, or for further info on upcoming seminar programs visit www.hamptonbates.com, or email info@hamptonbates.com.

When You Are Immersed, You're Drowning and Can't Breathe Recently, while on a trip, I got a great opportunity to see my business in FULL perspective. One of the first things I can tell you, probably the MOST important thing in order to do this ... is to BREAKAWAY.  As the old saying goes, "The grass is always greener on the other side." I mean completely break away no social media, no emails, very limited cell phone use, and spending the time to get to know yourself.
